Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.24.038754
I note you seek access to the following information:
I'd like to request, for the years 2019 to 2024, statistics for the number of cars seized for anti-social behaviour for each year on behalf of a journalist publication.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Data Caveats:
Whilst you have not defined what you mean by “anti-social behaviour”, we have interpreted this request to relate to those vehicles that have been seized by Met Police Officers under section 59 of The Police Reform Act 2002. This is a power of seizure that the public will often associate with the policing of anti-social vehicle use. Further details about this power.
The data used to compile this response comes from the Met Police’s car pound computer system called the Easy Link Vehicle Information System (ELVIS). This is a live system and as such records are subject to review and change. Therefore, data analysis over time can produce different results.
The data has been compiled for the following calendar years, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 (up until 6 August 2024)
Year | Count |
---|---|
2019 | 34 |
2020 | 53 |
2021 | 82 |
2022 | 81 |
2023 | 66 |
2024 (up until 6 August 2024) | 56 |
Total | 372 |
