Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - What is the purpose of the Surge Team?
To provide a proactive policing presence in support of London’s BCU’s as directed by corporate tasking.
Q2 - What are surge drivers trained in?
Surge teams will hold driving skills other units have including immediate response trained officers. Some members of the surge team will be trained in Tactical Pursuit and Containment (TPAC).
Q3 - Do Surge have their own vehicles or are they borrowed from other divisions like MO8?
The Surge team will have their own fleet.
Q4 - What training do Surge officers usually have?
Surge officers will be exposed to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Same as other officers across the MPS. As per Q1.
