The discrimination standard

The Standards of Professional Behaviour set out in Schedule 2 of The Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020 include the following standard relating to unlawful discriminatory behaviour:

“Equality and Diversity. Police officers act with fairness and impartiality. They do not discriminate unlawfully or unfairly”.

The IOPC Guidance on the Recording of Complaints, under the Police Reform Act 2002, provides definitions to assist those recording allegations about police conduct linked to complaint cases. Our FOI request is concerned with category F, ‘discriminatory behaviour’.

We would like to know:
1. The number of complaints and conduct matters in relation to abuse of position for sexual purpose; and
2. How many of these have been recorded within the allegation category ‘discriminatory behaviour’.

Relevant period If it is only possible to provide information in relation to the last five years, please provide data from 1 February 2019 to 1 February 2024.
