Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.032016
I note you seek access to the following information:
Can we have information on how many vehicles have been impounded (for any reason) in your area?
Please could we have statistics for this across 2021, 2022 and 2023 (so far) separately please?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
2021 | 2022 | 2023 (up to 16/08/23) |
34,823 | 32,489 | 20,624 |
Data caveats:
- The data comes from the MPS’ computer system called Easy Link Vehicle Information System (ELVIS). This is a live system and as such records are subject to review and change. Therefore data analysis over time can produce different results.
- We have interpreted the term “impounded” to mean the seizure or removal of any vehicles under a statutory or common law power to either of the MPS car pounds at Perivale and Charlton.
- The term vehicle is extended to its broadest meaning and includes personal transporters, such as eScooters or eBikes, which have been seized as motor vehicles under road traffic legislation.
- The figures are for calendar years, or parts thereof. For 2023 the data covers the period 01/01/2023 to the 16/08/2023.
