I note you seek access to the following information:
1) Does the Metropolitan police service hold any CS gas canisters in stock or storage for moments of extreme public disorder?
2) Does the sco19, CTSFO have access to stun grenades?
3) Is there any future plans to change the current standard field uniform and tactical vests for police constables?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - Does the Metropolitan police service hold any CS gas canisters in stock or storage for moments of extreme public disorder?
The MPS does not hold stocks of CS gas or any other similar product as a contingency for extreme disorder.
Q2 - Does the sco19, CTSFO have access to stun grenades?
CTSFOs have access to specialist munitions including distraction devices.
Q3 - Is there any future plans to change the current standard field uniform and tactical vests for police constables?
The MPS Uniform Services team regularly reviews the uniform and equipment provided to officers to ensure that it remains fit for purpose. The prioritisation for which changes to make when takes into account new legislation, safety standards and user feedback around comfort, quality and fit. We are currently developing an improved layering solution, which includes the use of MOLLE tactical vests and body armour covers, as part of our future offering for all officers in order to provide the right clothing for the extremes of hot and cold weather and to ensure officers can carry their equipment appropriately. This project will be complete by Winter 2024.
