Correspondence -
On the 14 August I wrote to you and said in part ‘I have reviewed your request and sought the data from the Performance and Assurance Unit (PAU). This unit is responsible for corporate data collation. They have confirmed that there is no specific classification, flag, or offence code on Centurion relating to the salaries of officers who have been suspended pending a misconduct or gross misconduct investigation or hearing in the financial year 2021/2022 or 2022/2023.
This means salary data is not automatically recoverable via Centurion, and would involve cross referencing on several systems used by two separate teams. This would result in a cost refusal. However, I have been advised that we can provide salary bands according to officer rank, which can be done within cost. Could you please provide confirmation that you are happy to receive the salary banding instead of the officers individual salaries please?
On the 15 August you confirmed that you were ‘happy to receive the salary banding instead of the officers individual salaries’. Searches were then conducted in relation to the amended request.
These searches successfully located the information relevant to your request. I have attached an excel spreadsheet with the answers to your questions. Please note there are four separate tabs within the spreadsheet, titled cover sheet, notes, definition and table. The notes page should be read in conjunction with the data to ensure the report is interpreted correctly.

Please find attached a word document titled FOIA - LYNCH - Pay scales by rank, which outlines officer pay.
Maintaining Public Trust in the MPS
Securing and maintaining the trust of the community is integral to the principle of policing by consent and to continue to do so, the MPS recognises that its staff must act with professionalism and integrity. The MPS treats each occasion when an allegation is made about the conduct of its staff extremely seriously and will fully investigate each incident to determine whether the conduct of that member of staff has breached the standards of professional behaviour. Where the conduct of staff is proven to have fallen below the standards of behaviour expected, the MPS will take robust action to ensure that its staff are held to account and that lessons are learnt from each case. Any instance where the conduct of our staff is alleged to have fallen below the standards of behaviour expected is treated extremely seriously by the MPS.
