Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.032118
I note you seek access to the following information:
How do Metropolitan Police Officers or Police Community Support Officers determine if the exhaust system of a vehicle has been illegally modified to make a vehicle noisier after it has been ‘type approved’?
What is the procedure followed in the investigation of loud exhaust offences?
What sound level measuring equipment is used by the Police in this determination, how many sets of this equipment are held, and by which units?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
The MPS does not have any equipment and any current enforcement would be for the officer to describe how the noise was excessive and through examination describe how the exhaust had been modified from approval.
