Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.032092
I note you seek access to the following information:
When will findings from the precision stop and search pilots be available?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
The Met would normally respond to any request for information on a piecemeal basis; this can be inefficient with a wide variety of responses being processed simultaneously, however, this can have the effect of distracting an operational unit(s) from their key role.
The Precision Stop & Search pilot has a Freedom Of Information Act strategy which has been agreed by the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for the pilot. As part of that a commitment has been made to release more detail regarding the pilot once it has been completed and the findings assessed.
The SRO has made a commitment to undertake this by the end of December 2023. This strategy suggests a way forward - a balanced approach which ensures that:
• in due course more detailed information is formally published;
• information which may compromise operational activity is adequately protected; and
• substantial time and effort is not expended responding to potentially numerous individual requests and the distraction that this can cause to ongoing operational activity.
