Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.032583
I note you seek access to the following information:
Please can you tell me how many Street Duties instructors there in the MPS
How many have had an official Street Duties Instructors Course? If no such course exists what training is provided to such instructors?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Currently we have the following street duties tutors working within the 12 Boroughs:
• 49 Sergeants
• 185 Constables
There is no formal training for street duties tutors, this is being looked at through our optimisation programme. Tutors joining the Street Duties team will be initially posted on a 3 month attachment to ensure their suitability to the team based on knowledge, capability and attitude. Each officer posted to Street Duties will also be subject to a centurion check to ensure suitability to the role, and the Learning and Development Inspector may appeal a proposed posting on the grounds of suitability. On joining the Street Duties team, all tutors will agree a “Statement of Expectation”. This is an agreement with the Borough commander and the Learning and Development Borough Inspector setting out the position of trust they are entering and highlighting the core requirements of a Street Duties tutor.
