Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.032931
I note you seek access to the following information:
- The number of speeding tickets issued to drivers breaking the speed limit while driving at between 20mph and 30mph in Greater London, for each year from 2014 to 2023.
- The total monetary value of speeding tickets issued to drivers breaking the speed limit while driving at between 20mph and 30mph in Greater London, for each year from 2014 to 2023.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
I have attached an excel spreadsheet with the answers to your questions.
Please note the MPS do not hold the data for the number of Traffic Offence Reports (TOR) for 2014. You will also note that we unable to provide the camera offence data for 2015, as the 20mph speed limit was not enforced.
The second part of your request asks for ‘The total monetary value of speeding tickets issued to drivers’. M010 have confirmed that a number of cases would have been referred through the judicial system (courts) and therefore the MPS are unaware of court outcomes to assist us in knowing the total monetary value.
Furthermore, all monies collected from fines are paid to His Majesty’s Treasury Department and not the MPS. I maybe worth contacting them directly to see if they can assist you with this part of your request.
