PU0071 – Vulnerable People & Risk
Aim: This session will develop the student police officers understanding when dealing with individuals who are vulnerable
Vulnerability & Risk
• Explain the personal aspect of vulnerability
• Understand how extrinsic factors can result in harm, or risk of harm to a vulnerable person
• Explain the influences of risk factors or vulnerability
• Understand how a vulnerable person may respond to a police presence at an incident
Public protection
• Understand the impact of abuse on a victim
Response Policing
• Understand how to deal with the issues of vulnerability when attending the scene of an incident as a first responder
PU0087 – Adults at Risk
Aim: This session will develop the student police officers understanding when dealing with public protection
Vulnerability & Risk
• Explain the personal aspect of vulnerability
• Outline the importance of vulnerable people being appropriately supported by the police
• Explain the key consideration when responding to, identifying and supporting a person who may be vulnerable
• Take appropriate initial action when dealing with a person who is, or may be vulnerable

PU0095 Public Protection Scenarios
Aims: There are a series of Public Protection scenarios – each of which will enable the class to be split into groups and then report back on their individual scenario for collaborative and group learning, facilitated by a trainer to ensure the following learning is achieved
• Demonstrate the knowledge gained in of public protection
• Apply knowledge in practical policing scenarios to assess risk and vulnerability and the policing response
• Apply knowledge in practical scenarios to explain the benefits of multi-agency working to safeguard individuals
