Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.032253
I note you seek access to the following information:
Re your previous FOI Response Ref: 01FOI/23/031801.
(1) Background: Several PI accidents were reported at the location since January 2020.
However there were no offences reported at that location during the same period. Most of the car vs pedestrian collisions (two of which resulted in serious injuries) occurred on the zebra crossing itself. In the circumstances there would appear to have been offences committed of failing to accord precedence to a pedestrian at a zebra crossing under various legislation (even if there was no allegation of reckless/dangerous/without-due-care driving).
(2) FOI Query: Specifically in relation to the PI collisions,
(a) Were any offences considered, or were the circumstances of each collision such that drivers were not at fault due to either pedestrian behaviour, or sight-lines of the crossing itself and associated roadsigns being obscured by overhanging trees, or being poorly marked, etc?
(b) If it was for the latter reasons - was the local council or another authority contacted to rectify the issues and was any response recorded from them?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
In relation to your request above and after reviewing your previous FoIA request (ref 31801) I have been in contact with the relevant unit and they have advised me of the following:
Of the five incidents recorded in your previous disclosure, two resulted in offences being prosecuted, one resulted in Civil Action and two resulted in No Further Action.
With regards to question b above, I have been advised that Hillingdon Council were contacted for CCTV checks only in regards to evidencing the offences.
