I note you seek access to the following information:

I am seeking updated information for 2023 (the one you hold when you process this FOI request) to determine if your current backlog is increasing or decreasing relative to last year.

The FOI request is as follows:
1. Please provide the monthly backlog of unprocessed applications for the grant of a NEW firearm or shotgun certificate as recorded on the London Metropolitan Police FET electronic database.
2. Please provide the monthly backlog of unprocessed applications for the grant of the RENEWAL firearm or shotgun certificate as recorded on the London Metropolitan Police FET electronic database.

As of 26 October 2023 the answer is zero for both questions.

Please note:
The term “processed” is not defined within the Firearms Act or Home Office Guidance.

This has been interpreted in these figures as those applications received by the Team but not yet entered into our systems.

Furthermore these figures are changing on a daily basis.
