The Guardian:
'The Metropolitan police will no longer attend emergency calls related to mental health incidents, the force’s commissioner has said.
In a letter seen by the Guardian, Sir Mark Rowley says he will order his officers not to attend thousands of calls they get every year to deal with mental health incidents.'
1. Please provide the number of number of mental health incidents officers attended in January 2023.
2. Please provide a copy of the guidance call handlers will use to identify mental health incidents officers should not attend. Include details of how decisions taken not to attend mental health incidents will be recorded for statistical purposes.
3. Please provide details of any estimates you have relating to the expected reduction in incidents officers will attend as a result of Sir Mark's order.
