Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.031150
I note you seek access to the following information:
I want to know if there is any Medical Police Officer role in the MET, is there any role like this?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
The Met has a number of qualified Enhanced Medics. These are officers trained according to the standards in Module 5 of the College of Policing First Aid Learning Programme (FALP). However, being a medic is a skill that sits alongside the officer’s existing role, so the officer’s full time role is not to be a medic.
Furthermore the MPS has the role of Police Medics within the Public Order environment. Again, this sits alongside their officer role.
More details can be found here:
MPS Policy Rules and Regulations of Police Medics
In addition, there are other medical roles within the MPS, but they are not carried out by officers – for example, Custody Healthcare Practitioners.
More information on that role can be found here:
Custody Healthcare Practitioner Overview
