Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.031435
I note you seek access to the following information:
(i) In regard to my question how many venues have received WAVE training by the Metropolitan Police in 2021-2022, you sent me figures from January 2022 to March 2022. Did the training programme only run in these months or does the MPS not hold figures for the rest of the year?
(ii) You wrote that MPS officers need to complete "a bespoke training session" in order to deliver WAVE training. Could you tell me what that training session includes and how long it is?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q(i) - In regard to my question how many venues have received WAVE training by the Metropolitan Police in 2021-2022, you sent me figures from January 2022 to March 2022. Did the training programme only run in these months or does the MPS not hold figures for the rest of the year?
As the previous request did not specifically say calendar or financial year we interpreted this as financial year. The MPS hold figures for the rest of 2002 but as before these will only be those that are fed back to Central Licencing by BCUs and does not include other public or private sector WAVE sessions.
The totals from 1 Jan 2022 to June 2023 are 1,311 persons trained from 345 venues by MPS staff
Q(ii) - You wrote that MPS officers need to complete "a bespoke training session" in order to deliver WAVE training. Could you tell me what that training session includes and how long it is?
The training session involves members of the Central Licensing Team going through the WAVE Training Presentation with officers. They go through the full presentation, explaining each slide and the information to be presented. Presenter’s notes are included and explained as well. The training take approximately 3 hours.
