Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.031600
I note you seek access to the following information:
NEW REQUEST:
Request data only where the SEG is shown as the Investigating Unit from November 2016 to present.
Request breakdown of collisions type and category of injury.
Remove breakdown for incidents relating to member of the public or member of the force.
PREVIOUS REQUEST:
I'm requesting data on the Special Escort Group, a department within the Royalty and Specialist Protection.
Can you please provide any of the following?
- The number of crashes, injuries, and deaths logged in the SEG since 2012. Please indicate if this related to a member of the force or a member of the public.
If this timeframe is not doable, please report data from 2018.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
In addition, please note that although the data has been collated with SEG shown as the investigating unit, there are Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for managing police collisions (Polcolls). This defines the roles undertaken in this process and states that Roads Transport Policing Command (RTPC) supervisors are required to investigate the majority of Polcolls that occur within the Met. Those collisions which occur outside the Metropolitan Police’s jurisdiction will be managed by the Force responsible for that area.
As such, although this data has identified SEG as the investigating unit, this responsibility will not be undertaken by them, but rather an independent specialist MPS Command.
