Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.031702
I note you seek access to the following information:
Can information and records on Prevent and Channel referrals and interventions per the CONTEST Strategy can be accessed via the Police National Database?
Can Prevent and Channel records of referrals and interventions be disclosed to members of the public via a Common Law Police Disclosure?
Or is Prevent ring-fenced from CLPD in the same way Prevent does not appear on any DBS Checks including Enhanced ones?
It is claimed that the jointly-issued former ACPO and DBS Quality Assurance Framework is the guidance on CLPD.
Under Enhanced DBS Checks Prevent cannot be disclosed, therefore under CLPD can Prevent not be disclosed either?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
I have decided to address and provide our response to your questions separately.
Please see section entitled ‘Disclosure’ for the information that is held within the MPS relating to the second part of your query.
With regards to any remaining questions posed, this information is not held by the MPS and I would like to take this opportunity to advise you of the reason.
Your first question seeks information relating to the police national database and the remainder to policy decisions concerning Prevent. This information is not held by the MPS as this Force does not have responsibility for formulating Prevent Policy. Any policy decisions would be devised nationally and disseminated by the team within Counter Terrorism Policing Head Quarters (CTPHQ).
Furthermore you have stated ‘It is claimed that the jointly-issued former ACPO and DBS Quality Assurance Framework is the guidance on CLPD. ‘ As you will be aware ACPO were replaced in 2015 with the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC).
Therefore, any policy or guidance that might be held would be a national document.
As you submitted this request to the MPS for information that is held by this policing service, for the reason explained above, I regret to advise I am issuing a no information held response.
I order to determine whether the information you seek is held you are required to submit a request to the team who manage national freedom of information requests on behalf of (NPCC). Below is a link to their email address.
