Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.23.031100
I note you seek access to the following information:
I'm looking for details on homicides for the past year. From June 2022 to June 2023. - Number of homicides (I know this is publicly available) but within that, information about the victims: - Cause of death - Gender - Ethnicity - Nationality - Location by borough - Arrests (number) - Charges (number) - Convictions (number).
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
IMPORTANT: Please ensure the notes page is read in conjunction with the data.
The majority of the cases from June 22 – June 23 will not have reached a criminal court, therefore the cause of death may be shown as ‘not known’ because it is not appropriate for that information to be in the public arena prior to any court hearing or criminal trial. There may also be outstanding arrests and charges to be made as homicide investigations are notoriously complex and protracted and will involve many lines of enquiry to be explored.
Arrests Data - Please refer to the attached spreadsheet -
IMPORTANT: Please ensure the notes page is read in conjunction with the data.
Convictions Data -
The MPS do not hold Convictions data, this can be obtained by the Public Prosecutions Service. Email The Information Access Team (IAT) or in writing to:
