I would like to know the number of uniformed Acting Police Sergeants and Acting Police inspectors currently working within the Metropolitan Police Service.

Decision

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.

Please find below information pursuant to your request above.

Our Computer Aided Resource Management System (CARMS) shows that on 1 August 2023 there were:

Acting Police Sergeants – 409
Acting Police Inspectors – 90

Please note that CARMS is not guaranteed to identify every officer acting up, for example if acting up was for one day only, it might not have been added to the system. The system also relies on Basic Command Units and Operational Command Units advising MO6 - Public Order of any officers in acting positions.
