Special constable (Volunteer police officer)
Special constables are volunteer police officers who play a vital role in our mission to make London safer. By investing your free time, you can make a real difference to our city. You'll have the same powers as a regular police constable and will get a tremendous amount of pride from giving back to the community.
Welcoming the future workforce to keep London safe remains as important as ever and we continue to welcome applications for our many career pathways. We understand that this is an unsettling and worrying time for everyone. The Met has been, and will continue to, following the advice issued by Government in relation to how we should all respond given the Coronavirus outbreak.
We ask for your patience and flexibility as we embed precautions designed to keep you, your future colleagues, and our assessors in a hygienic environment. We look forward to receiving your application and wish you all the very best in your process.
Same uniform, same powers

You will be based on one of the 12 Basic Command Units (BCU) that are located across the 32 London boroughs.
