The Cyber Protect Team was set up to help protect small to medium-size businesses and charities in London from the ever-growing threat of cyber crime.
We provide advice, presentations and planning exercises with businesses and charities to raise awareness of cyber threats and help organisations protect themselves.
We are an award-winning team and all of our advice is impartial and tailored to the needs of each organisation. All of our services are continually revised to make sure they are up to date with the latest security guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
The majority of cyber attacks can be mitigated by basic cyber-hygiene principles. Our presentations cover these, using real-life examples to show how they've protected organisations from cyber attacks.
We design our presentations to cover the current threat landscape and to suit the specific needs of your organisation and staff.
We encourage good cyber behaviour to prevent your organisation from becoming a victim of cyber crime. Our presentations can be delivered virtually or in person.
Topics we cover include:
Scanning online systems for vulnerabilities
We use specialist software to give your organisation's online infrastructure an in-depth security check. We assess your organisation against a set of security controls to search for known vulnerabilities.
We'll give your business a report that grades your infrastructure's vulnerabilities from critical to low and give you mitigation advice.
We can also offer the new police Cyber Alarm functionality. Police CyberAlarm is a free tool to help its members understand and monitor malicious cyber activity. This service is made up of two parts; monitoring and vulnerability scanning. Visit the Police CyberAlarm website for more information.
Decisions and disruptions exercise
A table-top exercise designed to raise awareness of the importance of cyber security for your organisation. Participants, usually decision makers within the organisation, learn the importance of making timely and correct decisions when it comes to cyber security, including what should be a priority.
You are given a yearly budget over four years (rounds) to protect your fictitious organisation from both physical and cyber threats. All the scenarios played out are based on real investigations and current threats.
You and your team will discuss the options available to you – moderated by one of our officers. As the exercise develops, the group get feedback on the consequences of their decisions and the cost in terms of cyber protection and finances.
We provide a thorough debrief at the end of the exercise to highlight key learning.
Cyber escape room
A fun, interactive cyber-security exercise to teach staff good online security behaviours though a variety of problem-solving tasks.
The escape room covers important topics, such as:
creating strong passwords
Teams compete to escape in the quickest time. Once everyone has escaped and the winner is declared, we explain each topic covered and how it affects your cyber security.
NCSC exercise in a box
An “around the table” discussion based exercise lead by the Cyber Protect team which helps you understand your organisation's preparedness and resilience to cyber attacks. Allowing you to practise your response to critical cyber incidents in a safe environment.
There are a number of different topics available, including insider threat/data breach, remote working and a ransomware scenario. As a result you will be able to create summary reports for your organisation from the exercises, which may help you identify and improve ways of managing cyber security threats.
Videos, booklets and leaflets
We have created a series of free videos, booklets and leaflets known as The Little Media Series. These are designed to raise awareness of the most common types of fraud and cyber crime, as well as tips and advice on how to stay safe online.
You can use these products as they are, or they can be adapted and rebranded for your organisation.
