This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
Online forms will be unavailable from 3am to 7am on Thursday, 22 October while we complete some essential maintenance. The website will also go down for approximately five minutes at some point between these times.
If you need to report a crime during this time, please call us on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
The Forcer Protocol is a process and a form. It collects information about serving members of the armed forces, veterans and reservists who are at risk of going missing.
The form is completed in advance and gives us the information we need if that person goes missing. This can help the search start quickly and make sure the person gets the right support when they’re found.
Carers, family, friends or the person themselves can complete the form which contains:
Fill in the Forcer Protocol form on Safe and Found Online. This is also known as registering a profile.
Please get permission from the person or their family before filling in this form.
Safe and Found Online keeps the information secure and only shares it with us if the person is reported missing.
You can update the form at any time if anything changes, such as their medical information or daily routine.
If you need to report the person missing, please tell us they have a Forcer Protocol profile. Tell us their Safe and Found Online membership number if you have it, but don't worry if you don't.
We’ll access the information held on Safe and Found Online. Officers can then assess the risk and start the search as quickly as possible.
Once the person is found, they may be offered specialist support from Operation Nova. This charity supports veterans and their families with practical and emotional help.
If you discover the person at risk is missing, search the area around where they live or are staying, including any gardens and outbuildings.
If you cannot find them, you can report a missing person online.
If it's an emergency and the person is in danger, phone 999 now.
When you contact us, tell us that the person has a Forcer Protocol profile.
