You can use this service to report:
Report a road traffic incident with a possible offence
Thank you. If you've exchanged details with the people involved in the collision, you don't need to tell the police. See the Road Traffic Act 1988, Section 170 for further details.
However, if you believe an offence has been committed that led to the incident, you can report it here.
You can report it:
Please have the following details available, if possible:
An independent witness must be someone who witnessed the incident but who is wholly unrelated to the incident and to anyone involved.
Guidance on evidence
To be accepted in court evidence must:
Video footage may be shared with the other involved parties.
It's more likely we'll be able to take action if the registration number of the offending vehicle(s) is visible in the evidence.
Please note: if your evidence shows you committing an offence, as well as the offender, you may also be prosecuted.
We’ll review what you’ve sent us and assess whether we can take any action.
If we haven’t contacted you within six weeks, it’s because we’re unable to take any action.
Once you have submitted a report on this site, you’ll be able to download a copy of it. That will be a collision report. You will be able to send that report to your insurance company or solicitor.
Average completion time: 20 minutes.
