In this role, we’ll be counting on you to improve the experience of 1,200 police staff and officers. This will enable them to work to their full potential and keep Londoners safe and sound.
As a people and development manager, you’ll be joining the Service Improvement, Performance and Innovation team, which deals with the People and Development portfolio and is based within Operational Support Services. Together with our team, you’ll ensure that more than 1,200 Police staff and officers have an excellent employee experience, so they can give their work 100%.
As people and development manager, you’ll use data to drive our people plan in all sorts of areas. Everything from well-being and equality, diversity and inclusion, to learning and development. Helping you, you’ll have a small team who will support transactional processes as well as improvement programmes. However, it’s you who’ll be responsible for the delivery of improvement projects, continuous improvement, planning for future business needs and sharing best practice.
By analysing people data from a range of sources, you will spot areas where we need to improve how we manage our people, devise improvement programmes and review success. You will provide insight to the business by applying a people lens across our key performance indicators. Additionally, you will support managers and stakeholders with their people management activity. And that requires excellent leadership and analytical skills.
We’ll also be looking for an organised approach, a relevant degree or equivalent industry experience. With this background, you’ll know how to use a wide range of data, including information gained from relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Above all, you’ll need an understanding of what makes a good employee experience, and how to apply continuous improvement methods to drive performance. Enthusiastic with great people skills, you’ll achieve goals through teamwork and collaboration.
Please note that you will be expected to remain in your initial role for two years before applying for any other internal roles.
In return for your efforts, you can expect a competitive salary, a Civil Service pension, excellent career development, and a role that’s fulfilling every day.
