Officers are working hard to disrupt and arrest criminals, but there are some simple crime prevention steps that can help to reduce your vulnerability to crime.
Be Safe is an ongoing Met Police crime prevention campaign that aims to motivate, empower and mobilise Londoners to take steps to protect themselves and their property from crime.
It piloted in October 2016 focusing on residential burglary in selected hotspot boroughs, and has since developed to include mobile phone theft and scooter theft across London.
Research commissioned by the MPS showed that most people believe they have a good awareness of basic crime prevention, but these are not always carried out for a variety of reasons.
Be Safe aims to support Londoners in adopting long term crime preventive behaviours by looking at the reasons behind why certain actions are not taken and how this might be overcome.
In addition to police communications, Be Safe looks to harness the power of partners and businesses who can help to support by providing key crime prevention advice and products, making it easier for the public to take these actions.
We are keen to hear from and work with organisations and businesses who feel they can help support this campaign. A range of materials and communication tools are available to download for partners.
