Officer concerned: Former PC Matthew Kemp
Date of hearing: 8 January 2025
It was alleged that whilst a serving member of the Metropolitan Police Service, former PC Kemp intentionally and knowingly provided inaccurate and false information on his application for the constable to sergeant promotion process between May and June 2022.
FPC Kemp admitted the facts alleged and admitted that his conduct amounted to gross misconduct. He admits to 'over exaggerating' some of the examples that he gave in his application form and said that he did not intend to mislead anyone.
The panel found the allegation proved, and concluded that FPC Kemp has breached the standards of professional behaviour relating to honesty and integrity, and discreditable conduct.
The panel concluded the conduct amounts to gross misconduct, and the officer would have been dismissed had he still been a member of the Metropolitan Police Service.
