Officer concerned: Former PC Harry Benady-Shemilt

Former PC Benady-Shemilt faced allegations that on 20 April 2022 he used excessive force against a male whilst detaining him, specifically the use of PAVA spray. It was also alleged that former PC Benady-Shemilt falsely stated that the male had kicked him.
The panel found that the former officer breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour, namely Use of Force and Honesty and Integrity.
Former PC Benady-Shemilt would have been dismissed without notice had he still been a serving officer.
