DC Nicholas Strachan will answer allegations that his conduct amounted to breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour, in respect of:
It is alleged that on 31 March 2023, whilst on duty at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey), DC Strachan made an inappropriate comment in the presence of colleagues when referring to one of the Defendant's barristers.
The matter and conduct set out above amount to gross misconduct, namely a breach of the standards of professional behaviour that, if proved, are so serious as to justify dismissal.
The Chair, Commander Owain Richards, considered all of the evidence and found the following:
DC Nicholas Strachan was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to: Discreditable Conduct and Authority, Respect and Courtesy at the level of Gross Misconduct. The Officer was issued with a Final Written Warning lasting three years.
