Officer concerned: DC Maria McInerney
Dates of hearing: 29 October 2024
On or about 10 February 2023, DC McInerney conducted intelligence checks on PNC and/or IIP and/or CRIMINT in respect of a male known as Mr A.
She did not access the information in the proper course of police duties and/or did not have a legitimate or authorised policing purpose for accessing the information.
In accessing confidential information without a proper policing purpose, she behaved in a manner which discredits the police service and/or undermines public confidence in it.
DC McInerney admitted that she conducted the checks when she should not have done, that she thereby breached the Standards and that her conduct amounted to gross misconduct.
The Panel found the allegations proven and gave DC Maria McInerney a Final Written Warning to be on record for three years.
