Officers concerned: Former PC Marcin Arcimowicz
Dates of hearing: 18 July 2024
The allegation against former PC Arcimowicz is that on 26 June 2024 he admitted in interview that he had used cocaine on 22 and 23 June 2024 and that he was required to take a drugs test which came back positive for cocaine and that this amounted to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in that it amounted to Discreditable Conduct.
It is entirely unacceptable for police officers who are responsible for enforcing the law, to break the law themselves. Doing so undermines public trust and confidence in policing as well as our reputation. The public could not have confidence in former PC Arcimowicz to protect them or others. Nor would they have confidence in the Metropolitan Police Service if it appeared not to take drug taking by police officers extremely seriously. A lesser outcome would not serve to mark the seriousness of his misconduct, deter others from similar misconduct and fulfil the purpose of the police misconduct regime.
Having considered the matter fully and including the nature and severity of the breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour.
Former Police Constable Marcin Arcimowicz would have been dismissed if still serving and as such, shall be placed on the College of Policing Barred list.
