Police Constable Sean Denny, based at Central South Basic Command Unit, will answer allegations that his conduct amounts to a breach of Standards of Professional Behaviour, in respect of:
- Discreditable Conduct
- Equality and Diversity
- Authority, Respect and Courtesy
It is alleged that between 22 December 2021 and 19 June 2022 PC Denny engaged in a course of conduct amounting to harassment and/or stalking of Ms X, in breach of the Code of Ethics and/or in breach of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. In particular, it is alleged that PC Denny messaged Ms X repeatedly and attempted to contact her despite it being made clear she did not want him to do so.
It is further alleged that PC Denny slashed Ms X’s car tyres on 22 December 2021, that being harassing behaviour and/or amounting to an offence of criminal damage.
In acting this way it is alleged that PC Denny breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Discreditable Conduct, Equality and Diversity, and Authority, Respect and Courtesy, and that his conduct, if proven, amounts collectively to gross misconduct and is so serious as to justify dismissal.
