Misconduct hearing for PC Joseph Ellis

PC Ellis will answer allegations that their conduct amounted to breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of:
- Discreditable conduct
- Authority, Respect and Courtesy
It is alleged that the conduct of PC Joseph Ellis has breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour, as follows:
- On 26 May 2022, whilst on duty with a female PC, he made various comments about her body and personal appearance, and about and to her generally, which were inappropriate and unwelcome and made her uncomfortable, when he knew or ought to have known that such comments were inappropriate.
PC Ellis’s actions as set out above constitute a serious departure from the Standards of Professional Behaviour as detailed above and contained within Regulation 5 and Schedule 2 to the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020, and therefore amount to gross misconduct.
As a result of that stated herein, if proven, PC Ellis’s conduct amounts to gross misconduct and is so serious as to justify dismissal.

The identity of victims and witnesses will be protected during the hearing as appropriate.
