PC Asad Qayyum, based at East Area BCU, will answer allegations that his conduct amounted to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour, in respect of:
On 16 January 2019, an incident took place in Barking where a young female was assaulted. On 24 January 2019 PC Qayyum was appointed as the Investigating Officer.
It is alleged that between 24 January 2019 and 27 May 2020, PC Qayyum failed to act with competence, dilligence and care in relation to his Duties and Responsibilities. In addition, he failed to ensure that a prompt and effective investigation took place.
It is also alleged, in relation to Honesty and Integrity, that PC Qayyum made factually inaccurate entries on the crime report which were misleading and misled his supervisors.
This conduct, if proven, is alleged to amount to gross misconduct as it is so serious as to justify dismissal.
The identity of victims/witnesses will be protected during the hearing as appropriate.
