Hello could you please confirm the number of failures with the N57 engine in BMW police cars across the Metropolitan Police area between 2014 and 2022.

Could you confirm too how many of those failures resulted in the vehicles being taken off the road.

Could you also confirm how many officers were injured as a result of these engine failures?

Q1 - Hello could you please confirm the number of failures with the N57 engine in BMW police cars across the Metropolitan Police area between 2014 and 2022.

The MPS has experienced one engine failure, which occurred in July 2021

Q2 - Could you confirm too how many of those failures resulted in the vehicles being taken off the road.

This failure did not result in any vehicles being taken off the road. The MPS followed all manufactures and NPCC guidance, and engineering controls, including the
replacement of engines in some vehicles, to ensure the ongoing safety of the fleet

Q3 - Could you also confirm how many officers were injured as a result of these engine failures?

There were no injuries as result of this engine failure
