- What happens to the disciplinary records of police officers when they change (i) gender and
(ii) name?
(i) DPS have advised that disciplinary records are maintained against warrant numbers, not by name or gender, therefore disciplinary records are unaffected when officers change gender and/or name.
Further information:
HR have confirmed that the following procedure is in place for gender and name changes:
If an officer changes their name as they are transgender, the officer’s sex and name is changed on the Police Standard Operating Platform from their first day of service.
The officer’s full history is printed off prior to this, and this is stored in a secure room under the officer’s previous identity.
If an officer changes their name by Deed Poll, or because of marriage or civil partnership, then the officer’s name is changed on the Police Standard Operating Platform from the date of the name change.
