I am contacting on behalf of Practice to Progress about your recruitment targets for April 2023.
1) What is your force's specific target to reach by April 2023?
2) How close are you (in number and percentage) of reaching those targets?
3) Who is responsible for keeping the force on track to reach your recruitment target?
4) If you are not currently on track to reach your target, what area/s of the recruiting process are your biggest challenge?
5) What can be done to provide additional support in these areas?
6) What is your forecast over the next year in terms of applications and actual recruitment?

Q1 - What is your force's specific target to reach by April 2023?
The MPS recruitment target for the financial year April 2022 to March 2023 is 4077.
Q2 - How close are you (in number and percentage) of reaching those targets?
As of the latest data available (November 2022) the MPS had recruited 2411 officers.
Q3 - Who is responsible for keeping the force on track to reach your recruitment target?
The Senior Responsible Officer for keeping the force on track to reach the recruitment target is the HR Director
Q4 - If you are not currently on track to reach your target, what area/s of the recruiting process are your biggest challenge?
Uniform officer application volumes are currently the largest challenge for the MPS.
Q5 - What can be done to provide additional support in these areas?
The MPS have been running a programme of initiatives including a refreshed marketing campaign.
Q6 - What is your forecast over the next year in terms of applications and actual recruitment?
The 23-24 workforce plan targets are yet to be finalised with board. This will inform the application requirements when confirmed.
Q7 - Who is responsible for your projection towards these targets?
The Head of Resourcing is responsible for the MPS projection towards these targets
