I understand the Metropolitan Police has written to former officers as part of its enhanced returns scheme, to recruit 300 officers.
Without asking for the personal details of individual officers, I would like data details please as to:
- How many retired officers the Met has written to under this scheme?
When they were written to?
How many of the officers contacted had retired whilst under investigation for misconduct?
How many of the officers contacted had been previously disciplined, including receiving a warning, under misconduct proceedings.
How many officers have been recruited out of the target 300 since the letters were sent out, if any?
How many of those recruited had retired whilst under investigation for misconduct?
How many of those recruited had been previously disciplined, including receiving a warning, under misconduct proceedings?
I have not seen any of this information in your disclosures but if it has been published, I would be grateful if you would point me specifically where I might find these details.

3212 (3 were duplicates).
Q2 - When they were written to.
848 letters in June to ‘recent’ retirees (year to 1st June 2022) and 2,364 who had retired up to 5 years ago and not included in phase 1 which were issued in October 2022.
Q3 - How many of the officers contacted had retired whilst under investigation for misconduct.

No officers recruited have recent/live misconduct warnings on file. One officer had received a warning that expired in 2012, however, they have been subject to the full vetting process in line with APP Vetting Guidelines and received Commander level endorsement.
