Illegal raves/parties reported January 2019 - June 2020
Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.20.014857
I note you seek access to the following information:
Can you please tell me how many illegal parties (raves) you had a) reported to you in 2019, and b) how many you closed down?
I am only interested in large-scale events in unlicensed premises such as warehouses, building sites and boats rather than homes.
Could you also tell me how many such events you have had a) reported to you and b) closed down this year to 22 June 2020?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please see the below information pursuant to your request above.
Please note that the number of reports made to us will not accurately reflect the number of events that have taken place. This is due to complications in reporting, - a “rave” to a member of the Public is different to the Police definition of “rave”. We will also receive multiple reports of the same event and due to the methods of promotion employed by organisers, such events are subject to cancellation, postponement or change at short notice.
This data provided relates to events held inside venues and does not include open air events. Interventions would be both pre and during event. I would stress these are the events which have been recorded on Crimint (Criminal Intelligence System) and do not provide a completely accurate reflection of the wider picture.
2019 - 15 interventions resulting in closure, out of 39 events.
2020 - (up to 22 June) 12 interventions resulting in closure, out of 24 events
