Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.19.012442
I note you seek access to the following information:
The number of referrals made to the National Referral Mechanism by the Met Police for the following years:
2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20 so far. Please break down the referrals by nationality.
I have today decided to disclose some of the requested information. Some data has been withheld as it is exempt from disclosure and therefore this response serves as a Refusal Notice under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act).
Reasons for decision
Section 21 – Information reasonably accessibly by other means
I am pleased to inform you that information relevant to your request is held by the MPS and is already in the public domain. Section 21 of the Act provides:
Some of the information requested has been identified as being accessible via other means as it is already published. Where information is already in the public domain we are not required to re-publish the data; instead public authorities are required to direct you to the information, which we have done in this instance.
Please see below results and links for the information regarding NRM referrals submitted by the MPS over the years in question.
It should be noted that the MPS would not be able to break down the figures by nationality for the years 2013 – April 2019. This would involve a considerable amount of work which would result in a cost refusal.
NRM data is owned by the Home Office Single Competent Authority and before April this year, it was owned by the NCA.
