I note you seek access to the following information:

Can you please give me the total number of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN’s) and Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) given out for using a mobile device at the wheel for the past five years.

If possible, I would like to know how many of these were initiated by a third party report (e.g. Dashcam footage), versus initiated by a Police Officer.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.

Please find below information pursuant to your request above.

Can you please give me the total number of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN’s) and Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) given out for using a mobile device at the wheel for the past five years.

If possible, I would like to know how many of these were initiated by a third party report (e.g. Dashcam footage), versus initiated by a Police Officer.

We can confirm that for the five year period in question (1 January 2017 – to date), the MPS issued a total of 41,917 Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) for Mobile Phone offences; and 5,769 allegations were also received from the general public for traffic mobile phone related offences.
