Officers under investigation domestic abuse/ gross misconduct

I note you seek access to the following information:

Sadiq Khan recently told City Hall that there are currently 173 officers under investigation for domestic abuse allegations, 152 officers are subject to live criminal/misconduct investigations and a further 21 officers who have a case to answer for Gross Misconduct that are awaiting a hearing.

1. Could you let me know how many officers under investigation over domestic abuse allegations are currently still working and how many have been suspended?

2. How many officers under investigation for other crimes are suspended and how many are still working?

3. How many officers under who have a case to answer for Gross Misconduct are suspended and how many are still working?

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.

Please find below information pursuant to your request above.

Q1 - Could you let me know how many officers under investigation over domestic abuse allegations are currently still working and how many have been suspended?

There are currently 143 officers under investigation for DA, of these:

• 12 are suspended
• 79 are on restricted duties
• 10 have left the MPS
• 42 are still working.

Q2 - How many officers under investigation for other crimes are suspended and how many are still working?

There are currently 284 officers under investigations for ‘other crimes’ (NOT DA). Of these:

• 38 are suspended
• 141 are on restricted duties
• 38 have left the MPS
• 67 are still working

Q3 - How many officers under who have a case to answer for Gross Misconduct are suspended and how many are still working?

There are currently 143 officers with a case to answer for Gross Misconduct

• 5 are suspended
• 69 are on restricted duties
• 69 are still working

Please note if any officer has multiple cases they are only counted once. The number of officers under investigation for DA is different to the 173 quoted previously as figures are based on a snap shot of ‘live’ investigations at the time of running.
