I am writing to you today to gain information on the "Public Order Crime Team"? I saw this on twitter and want to gain information on it.
Q1) What does this team do?
Q2) What ranks are within the team & do they wear plain clothes or uniforms?
Q3) What vehicles do they use? marked/unmarked vans etc
Q4) What callsigns does this team use?
Q5) Are they deployed to every pre-planned & spontaneous event?
The information I am requesting is purely out of interest as I am researching into Metropolitan Police primarily Public Order Policing.

Q1 - What does this team do?
The team is responsible for planning the “crime” aspect of major events such as Notting Hill Carnival, New Years Eve, major football fixtures and other sporting tournaments, major protest and state events such as the funeral of her late Majesty the Queen. Their responsibilities include: the provision of an appropriate investigative capability, the design and management of charge centres and forensic teams as well as cell allocation and prisoner transport.
The team also has responsibility for investigating crimes. This includes major disorder such as football and protests related violence. There is also a remit to investigate specialist and high profile crime such as harassment of MPs and Journalists, online racial abuse of sports personalities, some diplomatic crime and certain aspects of Terrorism Legislation.
Q2 - What ranks are within the team & do they wear plain clothes or uniforms?
The team comprises of Detective Inspectors. Detective Sergeants, Detective Constables and Police Constables. Officer in the main wear plain clothes unless deployed to uniform duties elsewhere.
Q3 - What vehicles do they use? marked/unmarked vans etc
Both marked and unmarked vans
Q4 - What callsigns does this team use?
Each officer is allocated a unique call sign.
