Number of police stations located within the force’s boundaries.
Could you please tell us –
1. The total number of police stations located within the boundaries of the force for each of the years 2008-2021
2. The total number of police stations and counters closed 2008-2021
Decision
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
A police station is defined as an operational building with a Front Counter.
The total number of front counters open from 2008 to 2021, as of 31st December of each year, and the number of front counters that have been closed over that same date range and year, can be found in the table attached.
Please note: Whilst Hammersmith front counter closed in 2016 for 4 years until 2020, while it underwent refurbishment, the Front counter was directly replaced by Shepherd’s Bush reopening during this period. Therefore the total number of Front counters did not change. This is also true for the front counter located in Fulham when the property was sold in 2016, the front counter relocated, therefore no change in the total number of Front Counters is recorded for Fulham during 2016.
