Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.22.024193
I note you seek access to the following information:
NEW REQUEST:
I would like to narrow the scope of my request to question one, as you advised in your response.
PREVIOUS REQUEST:
1a. Does the Metropolitan Police Force have any statistics regarding inter-ethnic crimes or suspected inter-ethnic crimes in the last three years?
1b. Does the force have any statistics regarding inter-ethnic crimes or suspected inter-ethnic crimes covering any period?
2. Can the force release any internal or other reports it has produced on inter-ethnic or other inter-community crime in the last five years?
Re-def: Regarding your requests for clarification of my request 01/FOI/22/023229, the "time frame for [y]our searches to focus on" should be the last five years, or the most recent period within the last five years for which statistics, estimates, reports, etc. are available.
In terms of "what [I] mean by the term 'inter-ethnic crime'", that would be crimes committed by a person or persons of one race, ethnicity, or ethnic appearance (however the force categorises this internally; I am not sure how you do it) against a person or persons of another race, ethnicity, or ethnic appearance.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Please note:
Although the figure are showing a White Victim and a White accused or a Black Victim and a Black accused and an Asian Victim and an Asian accused, these are not necessarily being targeted due to their ethnicity, This could be a domestic or a simple argument in the store which has resulted in an sec 5 POA or a shoplifting which is not necessary due to their ethnicity.
If the victim believes they are targeted due to their ethnicity then this becomes a Hate crime incident. These are taken to mean any crime or incident where the perpetrator’s hostility or prejudice against an identifiable group of people is a factor in determining who is victimised. This is a broad and inclusive definition. A victim does not have to be a member of the group. In fact, anyone who is perceived to be or associated with an identifiable group of people, could be a victim of a hate crime or non-crime hate crime incident.
