I note you seek access to the following information:
My request relates to fixed speed cameras in the Metropolitan Police District. I am not asking for information relating to mobile or portable speed cameras.
I would like to request:
1. The total number of speed cameras.
2. The number of speed cameras that are functional and in use.
3. The number of speed cameras that are functional but are not in use.
4. The number of speed cameras that are non-functional but have not been removed.
5. The number of speed cameras that were erected each year from 2010 to 2021 inclusive.
6. The number of speed cameras that were removed each year from 2010 to 2021 inclusive.
7. The number of speeding tickets (Section 172 notices) issued each year from 2010 to 2021 inclusive, where the speeding was detected by a fixed speed camera (not a police officer, mobile speed camera, etc).
8. The number of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for speeding issued each year from 2010 to 2021 inclusive, where the speeding was detected by a fixed speed camera (not a police officer, mobile speed camera, etc).
9. The number of FPNs in point 8 that were paid, for each year.
10. The number of FPNs in point 8 that were not paid and no further action was taken, for each year.
11. The number of FPNs in point 8 that were not paid and pursued in court, for each year.
12. The number of letters instructing drivers to go to court in response to a Section 172 notice issued each year from 2010 to 2021 inclusive, where the speeding was detected by a fixed speed camera (not a police officer, mobile speed camera, etc).
13. The number of court cases won by the Metropolitan Police for speeding offences each year from 2010 to 2021 inclusive, where the speeding was detected by a fixed speed camera (not a police officer, mobile speed camera, etc).
14. The number of court cases dropped by the Metropolitan Police for speeding offences each year from 2010 to 2021 inclusive, where the speeding was detected by a fixed speed camera (not a police officer, mobile speed camera, etc).

The MPS do not hold data for 2010 – 2012.

The MPS are unable to provide full data for 2013 to 2017 due to data retention of cases over 6 year old.

This information is not held by the MPS. Please note that the police service is responsible for the investigation of offences however the subsequent prosecution - and potentially a conviction - would be a matter for the Crown Prosecution Service.
