Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.22.023959
I note you seek access to the following information:
I would like for have information about the numbers of complaints, and any financial remedies offered, in connection to the MPS's delay in processing DBS Applications.
1. From Dec.2015-March 2022, how many complaints did the MPS receive in connection to DBS Application processing delays?
2. What was the (Mean) average, and largest sum, of financial compensation payment award offered by the MPS to DBS Application complainants?
3. Were those award payments recommended by the MPS's Directorate of Legal Services (DLS), the IOPC (formerly named the IPCC), and/or, by the Parliamentary Ombudsman for Administration?
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Q1 - From Dec.2015-March 2022, how many complaints did the MPS receive in connection to DBS Application processing delays?
Our Referencing & Vetting Unit have identified 10 complaints that either relate fully or in part to the length of time it has taken to receive a DBS application.
Whilst this is the recorded information we hold to answer this request, the figure may not be a conclusive list. This is because prior to 2018 complaints in the Referencing and Vetting Unit were not handled using the current method where they are now processed by a team and information is stored centrally. Instead, a sole individual who is no longer with the organisation completed complaints regarding DBS Application processing delays.
Q2 - What was the (Mean) average, and largest sum, of financial compensation payment award offered by the MPS to DBS Application complainants?
Q3 - Were those award payments recommended by the MPS's Directorate of Legal Services (DLS), the IOPC (formerly named the IPCC), and/or, by the Parliamentary Ombudsman for Administration?
The MPS holds no record of any payments to the individuals referred to in Question One (1). The information you have requested is not held.
