Methods used to enforce taxi “plying for hire” in London -
Deployment of uniform and plain clothes officers on operations at times in partnership with Transport for London enforcement officers. Officers target taxis and private hire vehicles to identify licenced drivers illegally “plying for hire”. A variety of tactics are used including approaching vehicles and also stopping vehicles in order to establish if offences are disclosed.
