Freedom of information request reference no: 01.FOI.22.023517
I note you seek access to the following information:
Can a mere written or spoken allegation of ASB, without any recordings of the subject, made by a member of the public about their neighbour be considered "evidence" by the police?"
You said the answer was in https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/asb/asb/antisocial-behaviour/what-is-antisocial-behaviour/
However, there is nothing in the above webpage that says whether a written or spoken allegation of ASB is evidence. I would be grateful if you could please review my FOI request as soon as possible.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.
Please find below information pursuant to your request above.
Essentially, any allegation of a crime, whether ASB or any other crime is an allegation which forms the starting point of an investigation. The MPS’ policy is to record the allegation of ASB, as it may well form part of the evidence as any investigation begins to take shape.
