Q2 - How is your annual training budget allocated across the organisation?
Apart from the allocation of budgets to support corporate (Met Direction) and specialist training, for example, training police officer recruits and specialist officers, officer safety training, firearms training, public order training and driver training etc., in respect of which budgets are set annually to meet operational demand, legal obligations and national accreditation requirements, training budgets more generally form part of individual Business Group devolved budgets. Under the MPS devolved budgeting framework, Business Groups have the flexibility to set budgets locally to meet operational priorities, which includes addressing the local training needs of officers and staff

The College of Policing is a professional body for the police in England and Wales. The college produces guidance for officers known as Authorised Professional Practice (APP). This provides operational guidance on how to deal with different types of crime or incident – from first response through to investigation, legal issues and public protection.
Q5 - Which external providers for learning, development and training do you use?
Babcock is the Metropolitan Police Service’s learning partner, working with a collaboration of four London-based universities to support the training of its new officer recruits.
